![]() With the zoom feature if the players ever traveled afar I could just scroll the map to the right, save off another image, and off we go. After 10 minutes fiddling I had something worked up that had me going "Yeah, I could game with this!" It shows towns, states, roads, mountains, just enough detail to see "that's a desert" and "that's a forest." I turned on "zones" and it marked a coast hit by a tsunami and an area currently suffering a rebellion. there are various layers and filters available, colors can be customized, names edited. Island? Multiple islands? Continents? Mediterranean? It comes up with states, cultures, religions, populations, trade routes, sea routes. ![]() This is impressive stuff! Not only does it generator a world map but it has many different settings. Simple.īut what if I wanted to do a fantasy game? How would I do it? I went to search for maps others had made that I could apply a little GIMP magic to and turn into my own but instead stumped upon a whole different beast. When I needed a planet map I could drop a rudimentary background, slap a hex grid on, throw in some city pictures, done. ![]() Star background, slap a grid on it, drop a couple planets in, done and looks good. Lately I've been playing Stars Without Number which made world map generation very easy.
